USE OF CCTV

Guru Nanak Darbar Gurdwara have installed CCTV systems on our premises used by members of our sangat, sewadars and public for the purposes of safety and the prevention and detection of crime. CCTV is also installed outside in some of our car parks and on the outside of some of our buildings for the purposes of monitoring building security and crime prevention and detection.

Some cameras are also installed with ANPR and other artificial intelligence capabilities in order to provide improved crime detection and investigation. In some cases the cameras are rotational and may be monitored 24hours a day by both onsite and offsite teams. This is specifically for the purposes of Sangat, public and staff safety, crime prevention and detection, and the prevention of abuse of gurdwara policies and rehat. In all locations, signs are displayed notifying you that CCTV is in operation and providing details of who to contact for further information about them.

Images captured by CCTV will not be kept for longer than necessary. However, on occasions there may be a need to keep images for a longer period, for example where a crime is being investigated.

We will only disclose CCTV images to third parties for the purposes stated above. CCTV images may be released in the public domain to support the speedy recovery of any police investigation, where it is felt necessary to do so.

You have the right to request CCTV images of yourself and request a copy in compliance with law. Please see Your information rights for information about how to make a request. There may be a minimum charge applied for the search and provision of the cctv images.
